Why FIRESTARTERZ exists
“The best travel memories happen when you stop feeling like a tourist.”
For more than a decade, Hiroshi has welcomed travellers from over 25 countries into the food, conversations, and late-night energy of his hometown. Some arrived as guests and left as friends.
He created FIRESTARTERZ to make the parts of Fukuoka that can feel difficult to enter—Japanese menus, tiny yatai kitchens, neighbourhood bars—feel open, relaxed, and genuinely welcoming.

A good host knows when to explain, when to translate, and when to let the night unfold. Hiroshi reads the room, bridges the language gap, and helps each guest feel comfortable enough to be curious.
The goal is not simply to visit a list of places. It is to give you the confidence and context to enjoy Fukuoka the way locals do.
